NEW REPORT: Housing as a means to improve women’s health and well-being in Estrie
13 décembre 2022This report sets out to identify the available information on housing as a determinant of health and to structure it in a way that shows the impact that housing can have on other determinants of women’s health and well-being (poverty, physical and mental health, and sexual and domestic violence). Population groups of women are also examined in order to document the specific realities of older women, women with disabilities, immigrant and racialized women, Aboriginal women living off-community, as well as people from diverse sexual and gender backgrounds. With its intersectional feminist approach, this document has allowed ConcertAction Femmes Estrie (CAFE) to propose regional demands and courses of action.

Press release for immediate distribution | GATHERING FOR THE POLYTECHNIQUE AND THE NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE AND ACTION TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
5 décembre 2022Thirty-three years ago, 14 women were murdered for being women and 13 others were injured at the École Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6, 1989. As part of the 12 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women campaign, ConcertAction Femmes Estrie (CAFE) is inviting people to come together one last time. Events will be organized on December 5 and 6 by its members and allies in Estrie. The profoundly anti-feminist nature of this killing is a sad reminder of the high rate of spousal femicide in Quebec once again this year.

Kicking off the 12 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women Campaign
25 novembre 2022The 12 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign takes place every year from November 25 to December 6. Actions are organized by feminist groups across Quebec to raise public awareness about violence against women. The event is an opportunity to demand concrete commitments from the provincial and federal governments to eliminate this systemic violence that continues to exist despite the advances in women’s rights in Quebec and Canada. While some women have achieved victories, others are still waiting for real change.
